CLIVE DAVIS,
Commemorating Arista Records’ 35th Anniversary Year
In 1974, having already discovered and signed acts like Janis Joplin, Sly and the Family Stone and Bruce Springsteen for Columbia Records, music executive Clive Davis struck out on his own and launched the Arista record label. The artists associated with Arista – Barry Manilow, Patti Smith, Dionne Warwick, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Babyface, and Sean “Puffy” Combs, just to name a few – have become part of the fabric of all popular culture. Now a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment, Arista Records recently celebrated the grand success of Whitney Houston’s comeback album, I Turn to You.
Join Arista founder and Sony Music Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Clive Davis in a once-in-a-lifetime moderated discussion, as he reflects back on tremendous successes of the past and discusses the present and future of the industry.
